Warranty Policy

New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act (1993) and other laws in the jurisdiction guarantee certain conditions, warranties, undertakings, and give you the legal rights, in relation to the quality and fitness for purpose of consumer products purchased from light.co.nz within New Zealand.

For products sold locally in New Zealand, these guarantees cannot be modified nor excluded by any other contract, except in those contemplated by section 43(2) of the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act. You are entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality. You are also entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure* of the goods and compensation for other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. *A major failure is a consitition of objective test of reasonableness and is not necessarily an individual consumer’s point of view.

Nothing in this warranty purports to modify or exclude the conditions, warranties and undertakings, and other legal rights, under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act and other laws and jurisdictions. This warranty gives you additional protection for your consumer products purchased from Light.co.nz, and identifies a preferred approach to resolving warranty claims which will be quickest and simplest for all parties, subject to the exclusions, terms and conditions below.

(a) Unless otherwise set forth in the contract / sales agreement, all goods purchased from Light.co.nz are subject to the manufacturers’ warranties only. Light.co.nz will pass on the benefit of those warranties to buyers, without being directly liable to them under any warranty.

(b) A warranty service will be given to buyers who have purchased the goods directly from Light.co.nz and have cleared accounts in accordance to their credit terms. Light.co.nz reserves the right to withhold warranty service whilst the buyer’s credit account is in arrears.

(c) Where goods are subject to a return to base warranty, the buyer is responsible for access, de-installation, re-installation and transportation of the goods to Light.co.nz or to the manufacturer directly (as provided by the warranty) and the buyer may be responsible for additional costs including freight.

(d) Any warranty may be voided by physical or electrical damage, problems caused by improper handling, misuse, negligent installation or operation, inadequate packaging, abnormal working conditions, unauthorized repairs or modifications. Light.co.nz shall not be obliged to notify the buyer of the unsuitability of its instructions or specifications unless Light.co.nz is aware of such unsuitability.
