We have seen the use of LED strip lighting growing tremendously over the past few years. Not only are they used in commercial buildings, offices, and restaurants alike, they also represent a large proportion of residential homes. But why have they become so popular? We are here to break down the benefits of using LED strip lighting.
- Customizable Lengths
One of the main reasons LED strip lighting is so popular is due to its ability to be customised. You can easily customize the lengths of the strip lighting, as most LED strips can be cut at every 50mm, or 25mm length. This makes it very simple to customise, as all you need is a pair of scissors to cut it into your desired length. If the strip is not long enough, you can solder two lengths of strips together if you have a soldering iron. There are also LED strip connectors available on the market, however we always recommend soldering the strips if it is for a permanent installation. Connectors tend to be unreliable and may fall off/disconnect.
Of course, style is a very important factor. The long, continuous line of a soft glow of light is what attracts us to this kind of light, as the end user. It creates a modern, sophisticated look that would uplift the ambience of any room.
- Light Beam can be Manipulated
The beam angle of LED strip lighting is normally 120 degrees, however, with the help of aluminium extrusions, the light beam can be manipulated into any angle. This flexibility is very useful, as it means you can customise the way the light shines into your desired effect.
- Can be dimmed/colour controlled by various means:
Control is now a very important factor to users. The ease of which your light can be controlled can make your life much easier and your building seem more high-tech. LED strip lights can be controlled via various lighting control systems such as DALI, DMX, PWM, WIFI and Bluetooth (APP control) and more. You can use a remote control, a wall mounted touch panel, a normal wall switch, use an APP on your phone or even a central control system where you can control a entire buildings' lights from one central location.
Overall, the flexibility of the LED strip is simply amazing, and this is why it is widely used in various applications today.
